In the early stages of grief, it feels like your whole world has been turned upside down, and that there is no hope for the future. I remember going to a child loss group, and the only thing one woman in the group could say was, "My life has ended." In order to survive this stage of intense grief, We must try to establish a "new normal" (I hate that term, but not sure how else to describe it) as soon as we are able to do so, to minimize the stress and anxiety mode that is taking its toll on our bodies. Easier said than done, I know, but necessary. Establishing a routine can help to minimize the stress on the body and help us just get through the day, which is the main goal of early grief.
